Main pedagogical and didactical approaches

The main important aspect of the project will be putting students with different formation and culture in situations of learn in mixed teams, assisted by teachers from different universities and countries with different teaching culture/tools/pedagogical approach. Each staff/student will bring to their home university the new/different teaching and learning approaches that is not available in a single institution (and will improve the existing teaching and learning situation/ conditions).

The project will foster the European transnational exchange of knowledge, competence learning and curricula development through an exploratory, innovative and multidisciplinary approach of the issues involved by the IP topic of logistics and maintenance, which include: courses with strong interactive teaching characteristic, study cases analysis and design, dialogues and debates, brainstorming session, practical/applicative exercise and activities, computer-based simulation, games playing, mixed teamwork in a competitive manner, individual work, evaluation for individual and teams, 6 ECTS credits awarding, other bonuses and awards.

The level of the beneficiary students of the project and how they are selected

The IP project beneficiaries will be undergraduate students (BA) from the specialities of engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing and processing, economical engineering and possible other specialisation related to support function of logistics and maintenance. The scope is to support the bachelor students (1st cycle) in acquiring the core technical knowledge, skills and competences necessary to operate in their future profession, in a multidisciplinary and multicultural modern approach of logistics and maintenance as a support function for industrial systems.

Each partner in the project will realise a short information seminar among target students regarding the IP project. Then each partner will constitute a commission (2 or 3 professors related to IP domain) that will select the beneficiary students among eligible candidates who apply for the IP. The selection will be made (analyzing student’s application file and an interview) using the criteria such as: average grade previous obtained in firsts years in the university, English language level, communication skills and abilities, interest in the field of IP project and potential to use the experiences gains in the programme in the future line of work. The selected 5 students from each HEI partner will be informed and preliminary prepare in the subjects that will be teach in the IP.

The planned ratio of teaching staff to students

The project will create a frame for internationally teaching and learning in the IP topic, bringing together 35 students from 5 countries and 7 universities (5 students from each partner) and 9 professors: 3 professors from UPT (applicant organisation in charge of organisation activities and 3 teaching modules as titular in charge of teaching material preparation and effective teaching and as collaborators in other modules) and 6 professors from the 6 partner universities (one from each partner which will be involved in at least one teaching module as titular in charge of teaching material preparation and effective teaching and as collaborator in other module).

ICT tools and the nature of their involvement

The project will involved ICT-base content by using web-base content, on-line teaching materials and evaluation, using computer software related to the IP topic in game-base and simulation-base teaching and learning with new and modern tools (such as mind mapping and other creativity software tools). Thus the website platform available can be use for lifelong learning purpose long after this project is finished (for on-line teaching materials and evaluations).

The plan to assess whether students have achieved the learning outcomes of the IP

As a result of the IP, the students should be aware of the actual challenges in logistics and maintenance. They will be able to use cross-cultural communication skills and competences in a global labour market and will be able to adopt a knowledge seeking culture in their field of activity. Evaluation of these achievement will be made thorough the whole programme in following way:

- evaluation for each teaching module (e-forms evaluation and printed);

- evaluation of the 3 enterprises visits (presentation of comparative cases analysis and possible solutions given by the students (there will be as a result a collection of case studies);

- the contribution in key speakers session, debates and brainstorming session for ideas finding;

- final evaluation form (e-forms and printed).

ECTS credits awarded. The provisions to ensure recognition of the IP studies

The amount of ECTS credits awarded to students participating in the IP will be 6, representing 78 hours of intensive programme (72 for teaching modules, 3 for students reports after 3 company visits, 3 for final examination). To ensure recognition of the studies undertaken within the IP the partners will be ask to sign for each student a learning agreement specific in Erasmus mobility programme, where will be mentioned the course title and the number of ECTS credits that the students will receive when they return to the home university. Also each participant will receive a diploma/certification of attendance from UPT (host and coordinating HEI).
